Sixteen-year-old Sarah is a Christian, and knows firsthand about the merciless violence of Fulani extremists. In her area of northern Nigeria, they are a constant threat.

Already, Sarah has lost so much—her sister and her dad. And the scar that stretches across her face is a reminder of just how close she came to even losing her own life...

The story of Sarah

For over 60 years, Open Doors has worked in the world's most oppressive countries, empowering Christians who are persecuted for their beliefs. Open Doors equips persecuted Christians in more than 60 countries through programs like Bible & Gospel Development, Women & Children Advancement and Christian Community Restoration.

Deliver Emergency Resources to Persecuted Christians in Nigeria

“My sister and I went to the farm to do some weeding. Fulani men were around our farm. When we saw them come closer, we ran away. But they followed us. My sister was killed and I got a deep cut on my head. They thought I was dead.

“Some months later when it was time for us to harvest our crops, my dad decided to go to the farm. That evening his body was brought to us by some villagers. He was also butchered by the Fulani men. Since then I have feared being killed, so I had to leave my village and stay with my aunt in another community.”

Sarah's story in her own words

This is the challenge

Right now, Fulani extremists are targeting and attacking Christian individuals and families throughout Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

And these militants will stop at nothing.

Our partners have shared that as extremists fight and take over land through violent means, they believe their radical version of Islam gives them every right to take everything in their path.

And the attacks have been brutal...and the lives of believers in Nigeria are at risk.

That’s why we need your help to provide food, medical care and trauma counseling—and help rebuild hearts, homes and entire communities.

Your immediate support will provide these emergency resources

When you give today to join with us in our efforts to provide emergency resources to precious believers who’ve been attacked by the Fulani extremists, this is what your gift will provide:

Food and resources for survival

Critical essentials for medical care

Trauma counseling to heal broken hearts and lives

Resources and materials to rebuild homes and entire communities

Will you help deliver emergency resources to help save lives in Nigeria now?

The circumstances appear dark throughout Nigeria. But God is already at work, and He’s using His people to bring practical help and real hope to believers facing attacks in the area.

Through your support, our teams on the ground are working to distribute lifesaving relief through food and other aid to the Christian families and individuals in areas that have been attacked by Fulani militants.

But the need is still massive. There are still so many persecuted Christians in Nigeria who need help to survive and rebuild their lives. That’s why your immediate gift is so important.

So please give now!

Fulani militants threaten lives of Christians in Nigeria

“The Fulani militants killed my husband. They burned my house—all of it. There isn’t anything I was able to carry from it. I have a baby that is very young. I need help.”

“Fulani militants believe they have the right to take those resources by force from Christians they see as infidels.”

"God answered my prayers using total strangers."

The circumstances appeared dark for Sarah. But little did she know, God was already at work, using His people—believers just like you—to bring practical help and real hope to her and so many others.

Through your support, our teams on the ground delivered lifesaving relief through food and other aid to Sarah, devastated Christian families and other hurting individuals in areas attacked by Fulani militants. And Sarah was so grateful. Even more important, she received hope to stand strong in her faith.

Sarah says, “I am so happy about this help...God answered my prayers using total strangers. I don’t know how to express what I feel. All I can say is my God will bless you richly.”

But there are still many other persecuted Christians in Nigeria who need help to survive and rebuild their lives. That’s why your immediate gift is so important.
